We have passed another significant milestone in our journey towards contributing to Turkey’s renewable energy targets. We recently held a contract signing ceremony with the Turkish Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources for our 35 MWe capacity YG25-Demirköprü Floating Solar Power Plant project, which won the YEKA GES-2025 competition.
As you may recall, in the YEKA (Renewable Energy Resource Areas) competitions, where competition and technical expertise in the energy sector are showcased at the highest level, Arya Solar took a visionary step and won the right to undertake the Demirköprü Floating Solar Power Plant project. (See: Our Previous Announcement) The signatures placed today formalise not only a contract text but also our commitment to a sustainable future.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Mr. Zafer Demircan also highlighted the strategic importance of this project. Stating that the interest and confidence shown by the sector gave them hope, Demircan announced that the Ministry would continue to plan YEKA projects for at least 2,000 megawatts each year. Mr Demircan also emphasised that, within the scope of YEKA GES-2025, Turkey’s ‘first floating solar power plant capacity’ has now been secured with these signatures, and expressed his hope that the investments would be beneficial for the sector and our country.
Why Floating Solar Power Plants?
This project, which we will implement on the Demirköprü Dam, will not only be limited to energy production but will also serve as an example in terms of engineering. Floating Photovoltaic Power Plants (Floating PV) are the shining star of modern energy, as they do not require land use and increase panel efficiency with the cooling effect of water.
With this facility, which will have an installed capacity of 35 MWe, we aim to:
Meet the electricity needs of thousands of households from clean sources,
Reduce our carbon footprint,
Make a direct contribution to our country’s energy independence.
Our Vision for the Future
The pride we felt at the signing ceremony has been a great source of motivation for our fieldwork. As the Arya Solar family, we are starting our work without delay to complete the project in the shortest time possible and to the highest quality standards, drawing on our engineering expertise and innovative approach.
We would like to inform the public that we will be holding a ‘Public Participation Meeting’ on 8 January.
